NAHB Green Certification

A lot of developers claim they “build green,” but the developers of Metro Verde can prove it. Their Metro Verde South Phase 1A neighborhood is NAHB Research Center Green Certified: this means it has received third-party verification that the design, construction, and operation of this green development meet National Green Building Certification criteria to the National Green Building Standard. Click here for Metro Verde’s certificate.

The National Green Building Standard (ICC 700-2008), which is an ANSI- approved, consensus-based standard, provides a menu of green building land practices for developers to plan green communities. These practices, when employed in land design and development, will reduce the potential environmental impacts of a residential or mixed-use community. The Standard offers four levels of certification for residential developments: One-Star through Four-Stars. With each successive level, the community has to employ a greater number of green practices, and therefore the development will have a smaller environmental footprint. Metro Verde South Phase 1A achieved a Three-Star certification. It is the first development in New Mexico to earn the NAHB Research Center Green Certification.

The NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Research Center serves as the certification agent for the National Green Building Standard. As an independent testing and research organization, the Research Center has the capacity, expertise, and credentials to ensure consistency, rigor, and credibility for the certification process. Click here for more information.
